I have a large quantity of Cooking Books from the 1960's to the 1970's...Today whilst out Op Shopping I came across a pile of Vintage Books....I thought I would have a little look through and came across this beauty: It's the CWA (Country Womens Association) Coronation Cookery Book. Compiled by the CWA of NSW. This must be the last edition but the first copies were printed in 1937, 1938, 1941,1945, 1947 and 1951..... So after a little detective work on 'Google" this cookery book was published for the Coronation of King George VI,(Queen Elizabeths father).. There are some great advertising inside including 'Pyrex', 'Davis Gelatine', 'Patons Woolcraft', 'Success Self Raising Flour' to name a few........(dodgy photo courtesy of dodgy camera!)A list of Household, medical and Handy Hints..... There is also a 12 month baby diet for infants which is slightly disturbing..
Entertaining and Table Ettiquette...
How to repair Iron tanks...
Method of Tanning Sheep Skins..
Method of Making Woolly Down..
I guess that shows years ago women really did do everything, thank goodness for some modern conveniences........
